First things first: The winners
We know it's the thing you're interested in the most, so without further ado (but without any special formating either, hehe), we present the winners of our post-NaNoWriMo lottery.
10 full Ulysses Licenses
Drawn in the following order: Keely Weiss, Jessica Heaton, Bethany Warsaw, Alan Ramsey, Erik Ernstrom, Jordon Allister Stanton, Amber Vaesca, Robert van Vliet, Crystal Morrow, and... Denton Froese.
Congrats to y'all, and "you have mail". :)
iPod nano
The Grand prize — a brand-new 2GB iPod nano, color of choice — goes to... ta-dah... tease... tease... brrrrrrrring: Diane Patterson!
Congrats, Diane!
Special post-NaNo offer
If you entered the lottery, but didn't win — check your mail-app for a special offer later today. All others: We're granting a general 11% discount through December 25th. Just go to our shop and enter "postnano" into the coupon field. Have fun.
Sidenotes
Thanks to everyone who wrote in with warm words and compliments and whatnot. Highly appreciated. So thanks again, and to all who didn't win this time around: Better luck next time, and a next time there will be.
Feedback
As you know, we asked entrants about their stories, and from reading the forums on nanowrimo.org, we guessed that the most common theme would be "fantasy". However, themes ranged from sci-fi to crime/detective to (semi)autobiographical to what americans tend to call "litarary fiction", we believe.
Nice mix, and we also pretty much got a 50/50 men/women ratio.
Conclusions
So what does this all mean? Nothing, hehe, but it was nice reading all these short story descriptions (we're dying to learn how the Don Giovanni production turned out in the end... David, will you tell?), and to get feedback from real people who really DO write with our application.
Why were we doing this?
Fun, plain and simple. NaNoWriMo is a great place to get started with a novel, and although winning over there is great in itself, we wanted to add a little bonus this year. To help people get going, so to say.
Feedback was pretty positive, by the way, with some writers even finishing early because of Ulysses (or so they wrote). Pretty cool, if you ask us, hehe.
Last words
Keep it up! Don't stop writing. Make it a NaNoWriYe or whatever, but don't stop writing.
Oh, and have yourself a merry christmas, will you? :)
Fineprint
Elegible for entry in our post NaNo-lottery were all winners of this year's NaNoWriMo event. We held two seperate drawings: One for the 10 Ulysses licenses, one for the iPod nano. Prices were issued AS SUCH, meaning winners got a license and/or the iPod, but couldn't cash these prices in. The drawing was be held on Friday, December 16th. All winners were contacted via e-mail. If you have any questions regarding this lottery, feel free to contact us.
